Kate O’Connell said: “Working closely with employers, education providers and members of the public across the city has been the key to co-designing and developing Career Compass Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ, the first of its kind in the region.Ìý We are proud to launch a platform that will inspire and connect people with real opportunities in the Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ health and care sector both now and for the future.â€ÌýÌý
Tim Brazier: “Through consultation with a range of people across Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ, we have a much better understanding of the ways people want to access careers information. By listening to feedback and co-designing with future users, we have developed a digital platform which is one ofÌýa kind and introduces people to the wide variety of roles across the Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Health and Care sector.â€ÌýÌý
Career Compass Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵÌýdetails information about more than 100 different roles that exist within the city’s health and care workforce of around 60,000 people. As well as obvious roles such as nurses, doctors, and care assistants the platform introduces the less well known or ‘hidden’ roles such as pathologist, lawyer, chef, debt advisor and volunteer coordinator.ÌýÌýÌý
The user completes a quiz of 30 questions designed by an occupational psychologist to identify their preferences and interests. The answers are used to suggest a list of roles that they are well matched to, and users are invited to find out more about what the role entails, the routes into the role and the qualifications that may be required.ÌýÌý
The platform has been developed through a city-wide collaboration of health and care partners including; Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ, Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ City Council, Thrive by Design, Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Trinity University, Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ and York Partnership Foundation Trust, Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Community Heathcare NHS Trust, Forum Central and Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ City College.ÌýÌý
