Children’s Clinical Research

Research is a priority at Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Children’s Hospital, and we aim to allow families the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of quality research, contributing to local, national and international studies

What we do

As one of the largest Children’s Hospitals in the UK, Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Children’s Hospital is proud to host a plethora of research activity across our diverse range of clinical services and specialities. Over 650 babies, children and young people were recruited to clinical studies in 2017/18, and our ambitious future plans are laid out in our second Ģ¹½tvÊÓƵ Children’s Hospital Research Strategy (2020-2025).

Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Children’s Hospital has a thriving 6-bed paediatric Clinical Research Facility (CRF), which is at the heart of our research delivery activity; it is a major focus of attention as part a £600 million investment for a brand new, state of the art home for Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Children’s Hospital.

Children’s research activity is supported by many different multi-disciplinary team members, such as nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and administrators. The views of patients and the public are also key to embedding patient-relevant, high quality clinical research within the hospital.

Many multi-disciplinary team members lead their own academic research, holding various research fellowships and awards, as well as supporting the delivery of large international randomised controlled trials. Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Children’s Hospital and clinical research team have excellent links with our surrounding academic partners such as University of Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ. Â
