Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ is proud to be a member of the Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Anchor Network. Created to bring together some of the city’s biggest organisations to deliver more for the people of Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ.
Anchor institutions are locally rooted organisations such as councils, colleges, universities, hospitals and big businesses with local HQs. We employ hundreds of thousands of people, spend hundreds of millions of pounds, own and manage land and assets and deliver vital services.
We joined the Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Anchor Network in 2018 to work alongside other large Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ-based organisations to provide opportunities for local people through employment and procurement, as well as delivering on our sustainability ambitions. One of our main initiatives has been a targeted recruitment programme, which supported 29 residents from some of Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ’s most deprived neighbourhoods around our hospitals to secure career opportunities in the Trust. A further 20 people have since been recruited in a second cohort.
James Goodyear, Director of Strategy and Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Anchor Network Executive Board Member, said: “As a leading healthcare provider and one of the Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Anchor Institutions, we want to use our influence to create positive change in the city. Working collaboratively with the Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Anchors Network enables us to create solutions that drive positive change that will help our city, and our people.â€
The building of our new hospitals – one for adults and a new home for Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Children’s Hospital, as well as a new maternity centre – provides us with the opportunity to maximise economic and social impact by targeting employment and skills initiatives in disadvantaged communities. Find out how we will create new training, skills and employment opportunities through our Building the Ä¢¹½tvÊÓƵ Way programme’s social value initiative.
