All our services except pre-assessment are located in the Bexley wing at St James’s.
There are two main entrances to Bexley Wing. The entrance from the multi-storey car park brings you in on the ground floor which is level 0. The entrance from Beckett Street brings you in on level -2 which is two floors below the ground floor. This is the entrance you would use if coming by bus. There are stairs and a lift in the lobby to take you up to Level 0.
Once on Level 0, there are three banks of lifts in Bexley Wing. The walls around each lift have been painted blue, green or red to help with directions.
Outpatient clinic
From the ground floor (level 0) of Bexley Wing, take the green lift, which is located next to the big open staircase, up to level 1. Turn right out of the lift and walk down the corridor until you see the doorway on your left marked ‘Oncology Out-patient Suites 1and 2’. This is just before the vending machines. Go through the doorway, turn right and walk to the far end of the corridor. You can ‘self-check-in’ using the computer on the desk or speak to the clerk at the same desk to register that you have arrived. You can then take a seat in the waiting area.
Surgical Pre-assessment unit
The surgical pre-assessment unit is located on the first floor of Lincoln wing (level 1).
From the multi-storey car-park (number 48 on the site plan): Go into Bexley wing (number 44 on the site plan), which is opposite the multi-storey car-park. You will be on the ground floor level 0. Take the blue lift, next to the main reception desk, up to level 2. Turn right out of the lift and right again. Follow the signs for Chancellor’s wing (number 30 on the site plan) and walk across the link corridor bridge until you come to the lifts at the other end. Take the lift down to the ground floor. Turn right out of the lift and follow the orange line on the floor which will then turn to yellow. Turn right under the sign for Lincoln Wing and turn right again for the lift. Take the lift up to level 1. Turn right out of the lift and you will see the Surgical pre-assessment unit on your right.
From the car park on Beckett Street (across the road from the hospital): Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and turn right. Walk up the road until you get to the hospital vehicle entrance on your left. Walk straight ahead into the grounds. Cross the road at the roundabout, keep walking straight on and Lincoln Wing will be on your left hand side. Go into Lincoln wing (number 2 on the site plan) and turn right where you will see some lifts. Go up to the first floor (level 1). Turn right out of the lift. You will walk up a small slope and then see the surgical pre-assessment unit on your left.
